Black Afdahl enters his first year as CSU Rodeo Assistant Coach. Torrington, Wyoming native, Afdahl developed a deep-rooted passion for the western way of life at an early age. He attended Mesalands Community College in Tucumcari, New Mexico earning an Associate of Applied Science degree in Cowboy Arts with a specialization in Western Silversmithing and Fabrication in 2022.
Alongside his academic achievements, Blake has built an impressive rodeo career. He was crowned the 2020 Wyoming Rodeo Association All-Around Champion and went on to earn the 2021 Wyoming Rodeo Association Tie-Down Roping Championship title. In 2021, he also qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo in Team Roping, competing among the nation’s top collegiate athletes.
In the fall of 2023, he married his best friend, Baily Afdahl. Together, they continue to live and promote the values of hard work, craftsmanship and dedication that define the western lifestyle.
